Menopause

Menopause is the medical term for the end of a woman’s menstrual cycles. Menopause occurs when:

1. the ovaries stop making hormones
2. estrogen levels to drop
3. menstrual cycles end

Menopause can also occur when the ovaries are surgically removed.

Peri Menopause is the pre-menopausal stage. This is when you may experience

• changes in the menstrual cycle
• hot flashes
• night sweats

Perimenopause usually begins around 40-45.

Post Menopause begins when you have had no periods for one year.the one-year, no-period mark. You are post-menopausal for the rest of your life. Estrogen changes and estrogen reduction occur throughout the rest of your life.
